I am directed, subject to the sanction of the Secretary of State for the Colonies being obtained, to offer you the post of First Clerk, Magistracy, with effect from the date of Mr. Franks' return to the Colony.
The salary of the post is at the rate of £500 per annum rising by annual increments of £20 to £600, and if you decide to accept it you will be on probation for a period of one year.
Salary will be payable at such rate of exchange as may from time to time be determined by Govern-
ment.
You would also be provided with free quarters. You would be subject to the rules and regula- tions of His Majesty's Colonial Service, and for pension purposes you would be on the temporary staff, in view of the fact that you are over 35 years of age.
On learning that you are prepared to accept
the post on these conditions the matter will be referred to
the Secretary of State for approval.
